G'day!

Uh...I'm afriad there has been a terrible mistake. Through some terrible twist of fate, I think I was born on the wrong continent. Everyone here, from the custom official to the constuction worker is: laid back, funny, and ridiculously good looking. I mean, come on people! I belong here! =)

We made it safe and sound to Perth and have been living it up since we arrived. The travels were long and uneventful. We had a 12 hour layover in San Fransisco so took the BART into Berkeley, ate some Indian food (bad idea before a 18 hour flight, in case you were wondering), and then walked four miles to eat at an In and Out Burger for dinner...delicious!

We were met at the airport by Claire and Whit who were staying with Whit's 6th cousin, once removed, James and Lisa. They invited us over for dinner and it was incredible. It was such a nice way to start the trip hanging out with a family and eating a huge dinner complete with wine and cheese. They had three adorable little aussie girls, and we had a lot of fun hanging out with them and teaching them magic tricks (Whit). Endless thanks to James, Lisa, Georgina, Chartlotte, Elizabeth, and the pets! We had a blast.

The tournament festivities start today, so we're going to the opening ceremonies and then hitting the beach. Perth is beautiful...I'll post pictures next time.

ps Tank here. I've updated this post to show you a picture of DW with Nomadic Tribe (from Nippon) after our game on the 3rd day of the tournament. These guys were a very spirited team and we had a great spirit circle following the game even with our language barrier.

I thought I would also submit a quick pre-travel post.

I just had a great weekend before my travels. I spent the weekend in Panama City, Florida with my family to support my brother while he competed in his first IronMan Triathlon (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, marathon). We were able to cheer him on at every transition point and he did awesome. Ellen and I were inspired by how effortless David made it look and we are determined to complete one...in about 15 years or so, once I'm semi-retired from Ultimate and Ellen has graduated college and is making big money.

Thanks to the Crouches for hosting our early Thanksgiving meal. We had a great time last night. After a wonderful dinner we had a private concert which included "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Love Potion #9."

One more dinner tonight with family and friends and then we are off tomorrow morning. I am excited to start this amazing trip and am thankful that I will get to share it with Cara.

So Mike and I are leaving tomorrow morning for Oz. We're both playing in the World Frisbee Championships in Perth (west-side) for the first whole week, then...adventure awaits.

We'll be hanging out and camping with Claire and Whit, our favorite long distance frisbee friends, after Worlds. The plan is to head north of Perth, then head back south to hang out with some of my teammates in the wine country. La-dee-dah! We hereby promise to post updates as much as our technologically inept selves can manage. If anything just to let you all know we have not, in fact, been eaten by a ravenous dingo.

Family and friends: I love you all and while I am sad to leave Austin and will miss you all dearly, I am excited to fulfill this lifelong dream of mine...and happy to be doing it with a person that I love so much. Weee!
