Canadian Rockies pics

Lake Moraine...one of my favorite places on Earth.

The Athabasca Glacier...one of the few remaining glaciers in the Columbia Icefields.

A glacial lake on the Icefields Parkway...we liked the reflection.

Hello from Alberta, Canada

Matteo, the creator of the internet, was kind enough to lend us this webspace to set up a blog to report our roadtrip adventures. Cara and I are currently just west of Calgary in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. One of our teammates parents owns an amazing ranch house. It is so nice here, it's like staying in a five star resort for free.

His dad is a big-game hunter, so all through this house are bison, water buffalo, bucks, and gazelle heads. There is also a fully stuffed grizzly, black bear, and cheetah.

This past weekend was great. We met some new frisbee friends from Calgary. A couple of the guys I've played against in the past so it was nice to play with them. We lost in the finals by a couple to the Oregon team, but had a lot of fun. You wouldn't believe the support frisbee gets up here. The sidelines of the finals were packed. Parents, friends, players...everyone seems to know what ultimate is and enjoys watching and heckling.

we'll update later on the weeks after we left poultry days. Cara and I are off to the Canadian Rockies today. Our plan is to hike on a glacier today, and then hike a couple day trips tomorrow near jasper before driving down to Glacier National Park. After Glacier we hope to stay with the Machines in Spokane on Thursday night on our way to Seattle for Potlatch. Tank Yes...this house is freaky (see pictures). You try sleeping with a half ton grizzly gawking at you over a banaster. But it is very beautiful. It's been raining balls here, but it just makes the green greener and the streams whiter. Ho-Down was awesome. Can't wait for Potlatch, but meanwhile, we're getting our hiking on in some sweet mountains. Pray we don't get eaten by a bear...this year is supposedly pretty bad for bears since their food is scarce. Hope your all enjoying your summer...I miss you guys! Oh Canada, Cara =P
